Macromedia courts mainstream developers

// Click here to read article

Some great new products and features from Macromedia, and a cool new site design to go with them...

What i like most is the idea behind Flash MX 2004 Pro, and how it's made for developers and uses a different approach to make it easier and more practical to develop rich web applications...

DNA basis for new generation of computers

// Click here to read article

DNA computers, huh ?
Is the Terminator story about to come true or what ?

This idea holds great promise, but needs to be really controlled, i guess, so that we don't end up with cyborgs and shit all around the place, lol...

China blocks foreign software

// Click here to read article

China is blocking all foreign software in order to encourage usage of locally produced software.

This is a big blow for all software companies who have been working hard to break into the chinese market, but i think it's a really great and powerful move, and i truly respect the chinese for encouraging their developers and companies to innovate and meet the challenge.

Palm reveals new company name

// Click here to read article

Palm's hardware division (which is an independent entity) will be changing it's name to PalmOne.

So we'll now have PalmOne making hardware and PalmSource making the software, and no Palm.
They say it's so that both companies can enjoy the power of the Palm brand, but i think it's stupid, by doing this they're actually losing the Palm brand and not using it fully, plus the new logo sucks compared to the old cool Palm logo.

Oh well, it's their company and they can do whatever they want with it :P

Flaw seen in patch by Microsoft

// Click here to read article

So, basically Microsoft's security patch that was released to fix the flaw that is being abused by the MSBlaster/Lovesan worm is in itself flawed too, lol.

Is this hilarious or what ?

Refugee camp, P2P outpost

// Click here to read article

A P2P file-swapping network coming out of a refugee camp in Jenin / Palestine, is this cool or what ?!

I'm gonna download and test it right away...

I'd like to see the RIAA try and do something about this one, lol.

Their site is at: http://www.earthstation5.com/

China reveals massive smart ID card plan

// Click here to read article

China's 960 million citizens will be issued with digital smart ID cards, starting from next year, and i think that is amazing.

A lot of people are against digital smart ID cards, but i think that they hold a lot of promise for the future, a future in which we use our smart card for almost everything, from identification, to withdrawing cash from ATM machines, to authentication, to opening our home door, to starting our cars, to anything you can imagine.

I can't wait for the stuff we'll be able to do with Smart Cards, or whatever takes their places.

'Phone number' Internet addressing gains support

// Click here to read article

I think this is very interesting, and i hope all countries adopt this system.

The idea of one number serving as everything for you: phone number, email, instant messaging, faxing, ...etc. is amazing.
I think it is very logical to unite and consolidate all these means of communications we have these days into one address, which in this case is a number, a phone number.

Microsoft abandons Outlook Express

// Click here to read article

First Internet Explorer and now Outlook Express, it seems Microsoft are fed up of giving away new stuff for free.

From now on, to get the newest IE, you'll have to get the newest Windows.

Record haul as China raids pirates

42 million pirated CDs & DVDs destroyed across China...

What a waste of CDs & DVDs :(

Is Zip coming undone?

// Click here to read article

Now this sucks, incompatible zip files is the last thing we need...

ZIP is very popular and successful, but it's stuff like this that could screw everything up...

Europeans to get Windows music store

// Click here to read article

It seems Microsoft is going along with the crowd in offering yet another pay-by-song music service in partnership with OD2, calling it MSN Music Club in some countries and Tiscali Music Club in others.

The store will be accessed by a tab in the Windows Media Player.

iTunes had some success, so now everyone wants to get a piece of that cake, spawning a hundred or so companies, which by the end of the day will get consolidated into one big cashmaking cow. So the real game is: who gets the cow ? ;)

McDonald's adds more Wi-Fi to its menu

// Click here to read article

McDonald's is slowly expanding it's Wi-Fi internet access strategy throughout it's US locations.

I think this is great, and how life should be, an internet access everywhere...

I hope everyone jumps on and starts offering Wi-Fi access too...

As for Tunisia, well we have to wait to get a McDonald's first, then we can dream of a Wi-Fi hotspot, lol.
